Operating model

From specification to delivery, in six steps

Buying from China rarely fails on price. It fails on what nobody put in writing. This is the path we follow so that a product arrives in Spain as exactly the one that was agreed.

The six steps

  1. 01

    Identify

We define the specification with the buyer and look for manufacturers who can meet it. The process requires ruling out intermediaries presenting themselves as factories.

  2. 02

    Verify

Our process requires checking the manufacturer identity and business licence, and establishing whether they manufacture or resell. When an opportunity justifies the trip, the planned verification includes a factory visit and a physical review of the product.

    How we verify
  3. 03

    Negotiate

We agree in writing the exact specification, samples, price, lead times, packaging and payment terms, before anything is committed.

  4. 04

    Comply

We review the documentation declared for the specific product and configuration, flag gaps or inconsistencies and coordinate any specialist verification required.

    What we review
  5. 05

    Ship

Before each operation, responsibilities, documentation, freight, customs and import are defined in writing with the specialists involved.

  6. 06

    Deliver

We coordinate arrival, delivery in Spain and the resolution of any issues with the manufacturer.

What we need to get started

With these five details we can say within days whether a project is viable and which manufacturers would be worth exploring.

  • Intended use of the product and the context in which it will be used.
  • Approximate size or surface area.
  • Technical requirements or conditions the product must meet.
  • Estimated volume and timeline.
  • Indicative budget.

Nothing needs to be final. The more concrete the starting point, the less time is lost on catalogues that do not fit.

What we do not do

Saying this up front avoids the awkward conversation later.

  1. 01

We are not a freight forwarder or customs agent. Those roles are taken on by a specialist appointed for each operation.

  2. 02

We do not issue certificates and we do not act as a conformity assessment body.

  3. 03

We do not manufacture and we have no product of our own.

  4. 04

We do not finance purchases and we do not operate as a payment institution.

Current sourcing focus

Closer to the source

We believe serious sourcing takes more than catalogues and video calls. Our supplier selection starts from direct contact with the manufacturer and, when an opportunity justifies the trip, provides for a factory visit and a physical review of the product.

  • Shenzhen
  • Guangzhou
  • Huizhou

Three cities in Guangdong, where much of export manufacturing is concentrated.

We do not maintain an office, warehouse or structure of our own in China.
